Distance Learning Guide
How learning, wellbeing and communication will work if the school moves to distance learning.
Welcome from the Principal
I hope this is a guide you never need. Our strong preference is always to have our students learning together in school. Given the current situation in the region, however, it is right that we plan carefully, so that if the UAE authorities or the KHDA direct schools to move to distance learning, every family knows exactly what to expect from the very first morning.
This guide brings together the plans each phase of the school has prepared: how the school day will run, which platforms we will use, how QE Flourish and our Elevate inclusion support will continue, and how we will keep every child safe online. It also sets out what we will need from you, because distance learning works best when school and home work closely together.
If we do move to distance learning, I will write to the whole community straight away, and I will send a weekly update for as long as it continues.
Mr Dan Clark
Principal, Queen Elizabeth’s School, Dubai Sports City
Our aim is for remote learning to feel unmistakably QE: academically ambitious, purposeful and engaging, while grounded in relationships, care, character and a strong sense of belonging.
When Distance Learning Applies
The UAE may activate distance learning nationwide or for defined periods, and the KHDA may direct private schools in Dubai to move to distance learning. In either case, schools must maintain continuity of learning and student wellbeing.
System-wide activation
When the UAE authorities or the KHDA mandate distance learning, we activate full remote provision, as described in this guide, for the shortest period possible.
Individual absences
Remote learning is not offered when a child is absent for a short period, for example through illness. We will provide work to complete where appropriate, and monitor it.
How you will hear
The Principal will tell the whole community promptly, through our routine channels including email and social media. Each phase then shares the details for day one.
Our Principles
Our approach follows the National Distance Learning Guidance (2025 to 2026). All of our safeguarding, wellbeing, inclusion and behaviour policies apply exactly as they do in school.
Continuity of Learning
Essential curriculum learning continues.
Holistic Wellbeing
Protecting physical, emotional and social health.
Partnership with Families
Clear communication and guidance for learning at home.
Quality First
Remote learning must be meaningful, ambitious and age appropriate.
Inclusion
Students of Determination receive appropriate adjustments.
Safeguarding Online
Online learning follows the same protection standards as learning on site.
